The artwork is next-level in its beauty and intricacy—insert “frame or tattoo this artwork comment” here. The first volume was a look at what Swamp Thing was to himself but here we find out more about his place in the DC universe and adding a character like John Constantine to the mix was a stoke of genius. Upon sliding the massive tome out of its slipcase, I was delighted to discover an unexpectedly mossy feel to the cover. There was so much that happened in this trade but I don’t want this review to be too long so I’ll try and keep it brief.

Created out of the Swamp by a freak accident, Swamp Thing is an elemental creature who uses the forces of nature and wisdom of the plant kingdom to fight the polluted world s self-destruction. The giant event at the end doesn't feel very satisfying to me, because I don't understand the rules of the combat at all, so it feels arbitrary when the heroes eventually win. The two Shawn Macmanus issues just weren't the same, and no, I didn't read the Pog issue, that one doesn't count. per tutti i begoni che millanteranno la vecchia colorazione, quella attuale (a mio modestissimo e inutile parere) da un tocco decisamente più profondo all’insieme.

Couple that with the lush, mind-bending artwork by Bissette, Totleben, and a handful of fill-in artists, and Absolute Swamp Thing vol 1 is an absolute feast of horror and wonder for the eyes and soul. Mesi fa, ammaliato da Watchman, decisi di cominciare a decorticare Moore dalla sua prima opera: Swamp Thing . We get to know more of Swamp Thing with Parliament of Threes, and we finally see the first appearance of John Constantine, who has a pretty big role in this collection.

Not this one, it’s relevant to the story you’re reading and also mentions what’s going on in the mainline story that’s interesting but not invasive. With a beautiful slipcover, great binding and oversized artwork, this is a must for the graphic novel nuts out there. The recoloring by Steve Olif is much debated, but i think it looks great, and the artwork by Bissette, Totleben and Veitch among the best i have ever seen, there are a couple fill in artists but they are all great.

After that first run it was back to obscurity, until the end of the 70s when DC wanted to revive the character, but they had to wait because of the infamous DC Implosion (short version, almost 20 titles got cancelled because of bad sales). The art follows the psychedelic nature of the stories very well, and it is a bit better than the first volume overall. By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. For any other comic, I would'nt approve of the larger than life storyline with heaven and hell, good and evil. When Alan Moore took this book over from Len Wein, he had a completely different vision of what Swamp Thing was. As this is my first reading, I do not have nostalgia for the original coloring and do not have any problems with the re-coloring. At long last, DC Comics is proud to present the original early appearances of Swamp Thing in prestigious Absolute format. This one moved a bit slower for my taste and while it was cool for Swamp Thing to start getting more powers and used to his new state - there was a lot that was still left somewhat unsatisfying to me.
