Description

The list of standard features on each Hitachi NR1890 cordless framing nailer includes a tool-free depth of drive adjustment, selective actuation button, on-tool battery indicator, integrated pivoting rafter hook, and a side lock switch to prevent accidental firing.

With recent innovations in battery-powered tools, we are closer than ever to a true, pneumatic replacement. It also has an integrated hook which seems a bit on the bulky side to me, you could hang this from a 4" beam which might be useful for some but I think it would have been nice to see Hitachi include an optional smaller hook in the package so you could swap it over. design is the ideal companion for repetitive use on jobs such as trim work, panelling, baseboards, moulding, cabinetry and much more. There is a depth adjustment knob on the front so you can set the power of the nailer according to which size nails you are using and how far you want to drive them in. The former can nail up to an impressive 1650 brads per charge, showing the benefits of a well-made cordless machine, especially given the other benefits that come with it.Depressing the trigger causes the compressed air to be released which in turn causes the piston to shoot down and drives the nail into the wood. This HiKOKI gas nailer is the successor to the Hitachi NR90GC2 Nailgun and features a high visibility magazine and easy access fuel cell chamber. I feel the choice you make now depends on what you are doing, and that for an ever increasing number of tradesman (the ones who do jobs other than just nailing roofs) that choice is ever more a cordless nailer which utilises an existing battery system. To power-up and off the NR1890DC and NR1890DR, you simply press the power button for a second or two and you are ready to build something.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. This is particularly useful if you have little ones around that you do not want to accidentally engage the nailer. To put things in perspective, I currently have two Hikoki NR1890s, a couple of Rawl WW90CH gas nailers and a couple of pneumatic nailers (a Senco, a DW and a Hitachi).I have similarly had issues with other gas nailers over the years - a particular bugbear being the microswitches on Paslodes, Sencos and Rawls. Clipped head or 'D' head professional power tools like this allow nails to be grouped in clusters for added strength. We used the tool for several months on an interior partition framing remodel and were able to get about half a day of heavy framing, and full days on lighter days.

Whereas the more experienced carpenters on my crew all preferred the bump-fire mode, I’ve had several, very green, apprentices help that were not ready.

Like any pressurised system (including gas nailers) they have seals which can wear or fail, but in the case of the Hikokis this replacement and the sunsequent repressurisation of the reservoir can only be done by a Hikoki Authorised Service Centre. The problem I have is that the nail gun was in the wrong carry case, the nail gun does fit in there but the box was for a Hikoki drill with pictures of it on three sides. While not a true replacement for pneumatic nailers, particularly on a production framing site, my crew and I found ourselves, more often than not, grabbing these nailers for many tasks.

I've had both the Hikoki and the Milwaukee in my hand and they feel unwieldy in comparison to my Senco. A single push of the selective actuation button lets you toggle between sequential and bump fire methods. There's also a function button here, when the blue light is on the nailer is in single fire mode, if you press it the blue light will flash meaning the nailer is in bump fire mode. The Hitachi NR1890DBCL Cordless First Fix Framing Nailer is a new addition to Hitachi's cordless range.
