About this deal

Seriously, reading this story was therapeutic because it reflects many of my own experiences being raised in an evangelical home and the journey I found myself on during college to unlearn those toxic beliefs and form my own. I don't know why, but this line just made me crack up, because of how comical and goofy the exclamation mark felt. I seriously need to tattoo Skyler Mason’s name (the Author) in my brain because I absolutely despise all of her books and i never realise they are by her until i come to goodreads to complain about them. I honestly am so happy Skyler wrote this story because so many of us women have been negatively affected by purity culture and it’s lovely seeing Livvy embark on her own path to healing and discovery.

Just because someone is a virgin and doesn't have any sexual experience doesn't mean they're fragile glass. It happens that her best friend, a manwhore who has been in love with her since they met, comes back to town, and she is gonna ask him to take her virginity. As they share a kiss that makes the world stand still, Livy begins to wonder if there could be something more between them.Until we share a kiss that makes the world stand still, and I begin to wonder…maybe I’ve misread him all along. I thought it would be really interesting to read a book that addressed purity culture, within a genre that often tends to stray towards the more virginal/innocent characters- so I thought this had the potential to be really good.

Her books feature strong heroines who sometimes make their heroes cry, but only because they deserve it. You would think, the whole set-up of them being really good friends and him always being protective but no he is so annoying. She enjoys exploring the complexities of human relationships, and her books often feature strong, independent heroines and alpha males who are not afraid to show their vulnerable side. Heroine is a complete and utter doormat while the hero is a manwhore who has sex with countless OW while supposedly being in love with her the whole time.Heroine is a doormat that says she isn’t but in the end is and the hero is a jerk, he says he is overprotective but he actually just wants her in a little cage all for himself, they even say that point a bunch of times in the book to him and many times by the heroine but it just vanishes by the end? Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of using your words but these words much of the time are just circular reasoning that frankly wore me the fuck out. I had to dive into my religious trauma, bathe in it for a while, and then let my characters speak it out of me in a way that often took me by surprise. But despite her wish to get over the hero (Cole), she also wants him to be the one to take her sexual firsts, including her first kiss and virginity?

Makes out with her in the Uber on way back to his home and only fails to go all the way, because turned out OW eff his dad in his house and OW pulls a stop. And one should certainly never celebrate a heroine who, in the process of trying to prove she wasn't "weak", acts in a toxic manner towards the person she supposedly loves. However, Cole’s reaction is not what she expects, and Livy starts to question if she’s misread him all along. Then when he said he loves her, she said it is only because he is afraid of losing her, and leave his house. And was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it, particularly since I avoid anything NA like the plague. I did finish it though so I'll be generous and give it 2 stars, however my opinions are always my own.

the person who wrote this clearly has a horrible view of God and religion, I pray they find the light . Thats why I’ve fallen for them 3 times already however they always go back to the same issue and throw all the progress the heroine has made throughout the book to the trash by the end of it. From h-s talk to her friends it is clear she knows ALL about H and many many women and even H talks to her about it (it is said h does want to hear about her friends or H escapades in detail and stops them from talking) ?The book started off at a point where the characters had pretty much independently been in love with each other, throughout the entirety of their childhood- but we didn't get to see ANY of that. I saw a tiktok of someone recommending this book and i was about to comment how much i dislike her books and that this one is trash and then i check the username, IT WAS THE AUTHORS ACCOUNT, thank god I didn’t say anything. All we saw was a lot of already existing, unexplainable feelings for each other (they were legitimately already in love with one another when the book started).
